Some of you are webmasters. Hjow do you deal with your desire to make your website readable on handheld browsers ? Using a dedicated software to serve mobile web is nit always possible.

Well, first things first : your website should validate the HTML 4.01 or XHTLM 1.0 W3C validator.

It' available on http://validator.w3c.org/ .

For the recollection, the W3 is the world wide web consirtium who has standardized the web technologies : HTML, WML, CSS and so on...

Google has been doing incredible things for the web users, mainly ont their search engine foe the Web. Among other things, for people who are not allowed to install ALX applications on their Blackberry, the website is always available. There is a script that detects you're on handheld by reading the User-Agent.

So you do your search, and when you want to go to a webpage that matches your desire in the search result, you just click on it.

And there comes the magic : instead of just sending you on the website you requested, Google shows you the website after processing it to be displayed on your screen. In other words, the user has a seemless experience from the Google Search prompt to the page he wishes to read. It's'handheld. Device friendly from head to toe.

There may be a few glitches of course, espexially when the website already has a site dedicated for handheld browsers. Like Amazon or Akihabara News. I guess Google Search is still beta after all :-)

If you live in Paris, France or near suburbs, you may have noticed the the local bus company have put an LCD display that shows the next schedule for your bus at the station. It's'nice because much more accurate when for instance there is traffic jam.

The RATP made a website about it, as well as a wapsite that enables people to choose the bus line and the station and direction, and get the ETA. Problem is that these two sites are not easy to use, bloated, and not really made for handheld browsers (I'm not only talking about large screens like the Blackberries).

Si I designed a php parser that goes and read the website and formats it for the information to be easily read.

It's'available on [ http://xandrex.free.fr/ratp/siel.php ] .

So for anyone who has an interest in Blackberry Ave., it's users and the guys who made it what it is today then I have an update for you all...

...Nathan the partner in the creation of Blackberry Ave. has recently purchased a new handset...  What you might ask would he love better than his 8300? the 8800? the pearl? or the new Bold?... ...well if this is your thoughts then you are unfortunatly mistaken.  He has now upgraded to the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide.  A very nice piece of equipment I must say.  So with this change I am contemplating my transfer over to the beutiful iPhone.

So what does this mean to Blackberry Ave.?  well the short answer is nothing... Me and Nathan have spoken about this and we are happy to keep this project on as it is an excellent service we offer.  Plus I will not be leaving the BB for a while yet (At least a few months).  What we may be looking for is someone to help with certain aspects of the site and it's development.  Again we are not leaving the site behind and we will continue to be a part of it.

If you are interested in helping out on this project then please get in touch, but please be aware that this is a non-profit service we offer so there is not a wage packet at the end of it. Sorry!!!.

Many thanks

Luigi Raw

Still very much the BBAve creator.

So anyone who know Bull from this website or maybe his own personal blog (bloggedbull.com) might be happy to know he is officially a Blackberry reviewer for BerryReview.com. They have been recruiting recently and Bull decided to have a go.

His first review on there site (http://www.berryreview.com/2008/04/09/tinytwitter-twitter-for-free) is in regards to a great application called TinyTwitter which allows users to interact with there Twitter account right from there Blackberry handset. Please go and read the review and leave comments there, here or on his blog... ...or if you want then visit and comment on them all... haha.

Hopefully bull will reply with a bit more information on the reviewing process and maybe a little self review.

Hello and greetings to everyone @blackberryave.com, How are you finding the place to be...

Well this is my first full blog on BBave, there is alot to start and i dont know where to begin?

Well its monday night its 8.30 at the minute and i had a long ass day, started at 6 and 320 miles later im home...the lady of the manor is out with her dad and my housemate is completing mario galxy on Wii with luigi (not site owner and best friend but character) and im finishing up on the days paperwork and checking out members and looking at future amendments, we got some good things in the pipes as stated before, Big thanks to Bull and his reviews and convo's with Mr raw, I'm liking what is being created and made through blackberryave.com "its the place to be" the only way i can see is up and up with this thing!

I know there are a lot of profiles that have no pics and need more information on them, i'm hoping that after whats about to happen soon will change that as there is gonna be a massive jump in members (nothing wrong with counting chickens before they have hatched eh?) what you will soon see and experience is like no other....its got nate aka littledragon written all over it, its got what i believe will smash all blackberry sites to bits in members and users as one,

I think its time for me to acknowledge luigi raw for his hard work..He is my best friend for many years now and we are both getting older and wiser but still never stops us from having a laugh, He is worked himself mad at the moment as I pester him to change and add and remove and adjust all kinds of things to blackberryave.com and as a friend he does it but as a work friend I'm sure he hates me ( you should see how he sends bbave messages to me, its like seeing the company director the way he puts things) He single handed built this bad boy and i put in the marketing side or "funside" as he keeps bleeting at me, the boy is a legend and friend forever! (flying italian woop)

so what do I want to see in the future:

you guys tell me? I'm open in ears in a way remember nate@blackberryave.com

and to all my friends so far, add me and ask me anything, your feedback means more than realise, to those who have added me already thank you and hope you are happy but if your cracking up or blacking out get it all blogged

speak to all you soon

Nate

(admin)

Final thought

"to create is to build, to build is to have, to have is to want, to want is need, to need is create"

Speak soon guys and gals of Blackberryave, "its the place to be"

Unfortunately today we suffered a server centre outage which caused the temporary loss of the website's use. This affected all my sites on that server.

Although I was working, I tried to keep close to the fixing of the problem so I could keep you (the users) up-to-date on the progress.

The site appeared to be down for around 4-5 hours.

All operations are fine as of now and I would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.
